Project

PrevInf – Capacitating Asia’s Nursing Students on Innovative and Sustainable Prevention and Control of Healthcare-associated Infections

To promote best nursing practices related to the prevention and control of healthcare associated infections (HAI) and antimicrobial management (AM), the PrevInf project consortium aims to improve the skills of nursing students in Asia (Cambodia and Vietnam) related to the prevention and control of HAI and AM management. To achieve the main objective, the PrevInf consortium will optimize the nursing curricula of Asian partners higher education institutions (HEI), within the scope of the prevention and control of HAI and AM, through the assessment and updating of learning objectives, curriculum content, educational methods and available tools, as well as the involvement of relevant stakeholders (students, teachers, nurses in clinical practice) in an active design process to develop the PrevInf model.

This pedagogical model will be supported by research studies to be developed by the consortium and on existing scientific evidence, adapted to the reality of each participating country, integrating the best practices of prevention and control of HAI, as well as the presentation of simulation scenarios based on practice, developed for nursing students and teachers, as an innovative educational tool. In addition, the PrevInf Model will introduce in its premises the development of the entrepreneurial spirit of young Nursing students, reinforcing their role in the design of innovative solutions that respond to the social challenge of the prevention and control of HAI and the AM in Asia. The PrevInf model and the simulation scenarios will be compiled in a digital book, the PrevInf E-book, which will contain the guidelines of the best practices for the prevention and control of HAI and the latest AM. The InovSafeCare community created will be expanded to disseminate the results of the PrevInf project in a sustainable manner. This proposed skills development approach will contribute to the modernization and internationalization of Asian partner HEI, and to the promotion and effective adherence to good practices related to the prevention and control of HAI in Asia.

Objective

Improve Asia’s nursing students’ competences related to HAI prevention and control and AM stewardship.
